SOLVENT WELD PLAIN END PIPES
  • As per ASTM-D 1785 in SCHD-40 & SCHD-80 series.
  • These pipes are plain at both the ends to be joined with ASTM-D 2467 fittings.
SOLVENT WELD THREADED FITTINGS
  • As per AST-D 2467 n Schedule 80 series.
  • Fittings for ASTM plain ended pipes are available in SCHD-80 series in white colour.
  • They are joint by use of heavy duty solvent cement, is a permanent homogenous joint.
  • Such type of a joint is also referred as cold welding.
SOLVENT CEMENT JOINING PROCESS
  • Cutting the pipe straight of required length.
  • Remove burrs from outer and inner side of the pipe before applying the cement.
  • Check to be sure for a proper fit and mark with the marker.
  • Pipes should go at least 1/3 rd of the way before any interference occur.
  • Check pipe and fitting to ensure no dirt, foreign matter or moisture.
  • Apply cement to the outside wall of the pipe to the depth of the marking.
  • Apply cement in the inner wall of the fitting but do not puddle cement into it.
  • Insert the pipe into the fitting with a quarter turn, making sure it is evenly distributed.
  • Hold for 60 second to ensure proper fusion as the joins began to set.
  • Wipe of excess cement with clean and dry cloth.
  • Allow the joints to cure for 24 hours completely before applying water pressures.
  • Visual inspection of complete system is recommended during pressure testing.
  • When the system is to be concealed, it should be pressure tested before concealment.
  • This system is not recommended for geyser outlets and hot water supply.
